Variety is reporting that Magnolia Pictures has purchased the United States distribution rights to the German film In The Fade. The film received immense critical acclaim at this years Cannes Film Festival and could propel its star, Diane Kruger (Inglorious Basterds) into the Oscar race. The studio is planning a year end release for the film officially qualifying it for an Oscar run in the United States.
The film centers on Kruger’s character a woman who is dealing with the fallout from the murder of her family. Magnolia’s President Eamonn Thaden called her performance “is one for the ages. Thaden also added “It is a stunning anchor to this incredibly timely and powerful film.”
No official release date has been set.
