According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino (The Hateful Eight, Pulp Fiction) is beginning to assemble his next film. The film is rumored to be centered on the Manson Family Murders. The report states the film is written by Tarantino who is also set to direct the project.
Sources of the trade have also stated frequent Tarantino collaborators Bob and Harvey Weinstein are also involved in the project. The Oscar winning producers are in the process of finding financing and distribution for the film.
While placing the finishing touches on the script, the legendary director is seeking A-list talent. Among the names mentioned in the report include Brad Pitt, who starred in Tarantino’s 2009 film Inglorious Basterds, and actress Jennifer Lawrence. This would be the first project helmed by Tarantino to be based on real events.
THR is also reporting that while script details aren’t fleshed out just yet, the story may be centered on Sharon Tate, the wife of director Roman Polanski. Tate was murdered in 1969 after Manson ordered a group of his followers to raid the home she was living in. Eight months pregnant at the time, Tate was brutally killed along with four others inside the home.
The director has been rumored to be working on several projects as a follow up to his 2015 effort The Hateful Eight. Among those is a rumored third installment of his Kill Bill series.
