Paramount Pictures on Tuesday debuted a poster for the highly anticipated Martin Scorsese film, Silence. The studio also debuted the films trailer after initially announcing it would be seen online Saturday. Paramount has also previously announced the trailer would screen with the new film Allied ahead of the planned Saturday release
Silence was just recently announced as a December 25 release after months of secrecy from the studio. The film figures to be a big Oscar contender in several categories.
Silence stars Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson. The film follows the story of two christian missionaries played by Garfield and Driver, who go to Japan searching for their mentor, Neeson. The two must battle religious persecution with christianity being outlawed in 17th Century Japan.
The film was a bit of a passion project for Scorsese who spent 28 years developing the adaptation of the acclaimed 1966 novel by Shusaku Endo.
